Safety

Genesis takes safety seriously, which is why every G80 comes equipped with a standard Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist³ feature that prevents you from merging into oncoming traffic. When you’re backing out of a parallel or perpendicular parking space, you can use the available Surround View Monitor⁴ to keep an eye on nearby activity. Standard on all trims, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2⁵ feature scans the area in front of you and applies brake pressure to avoid potential accidents involving vehicles, pedestrians, or other obstacles. Finally, you’ll be able to stay centered thanks to the standard Lane Following Assist 2⁶ system, which analyzes the road ahead and makes minor adjustments to steering to keep you on track. Electronically Controlled Suspension with Road Preview uses the vehicle’s front camera to help read road surface ahead—and then help control the vehicle’s Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) to optimize ride comfort and minimize impact. ECS with Road Preview will not function accurately at night or when visibility is low and may not function correctly if one or more of the cameras is damaged, dirty or covered or if weather conditions (heavy rain, snow or fog) are interfering with the sensor operation. 3. 3. Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) helps the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region and can apply braking to help prevent an unsafe lane change. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over 20 mph. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. BCA may not operate if sensors are obscured in any way. Do not rely exclusively on BCA. BCA is a supplemental system, and the driver must still be attentive and exercise caution when driving. It is important to always signal, look over your shoulder and through your mirrors before changing lanes. It is the driver’s responsibility to be aware of the surroundings and ensure it is clear before changing lanes or directions. See Owner’s Manual for details and limitations.

4. 4. Surround View Monitor (SVM) is a parking support system. SVM cannot completely eliminate blind spots, may not detect every object and does not warn of moving objects. Always check your surroundings before moving your vehicle. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations. Remote image capture requires active Genesis Connected Services account.

5. 5. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is designed to assist drivers to avoid, or reduce the severity of, collisions with cars that have slowed or stopped in front of them. The system is not designed to detect certain stationary objects such as trees or poles, and may not detect all vehicles and pedestrians under certain road, weather and vehicle conditions. It is a supplemental assistance and does not replace the need for extreme care and attention by the driver. FCA may not stop the vehicle completely and will not avoid all collisions. The driver is responsible for being attentive and maintaining control of the vehicle, and should not wait for the system's alerts before braking as there may not be sufficient time to brake safely. 6. 6. Lane Following Assist 2 can help keep the vehicle centered in its lane only when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road. Lane Following Assist 2 will not work under all circumstances and will not prevent loss of control.
